The 112-year-old Emery Theatre off of Central Parkway is poised for redevelopment a few years after being declared beyond repair.

Tucked away inside a 74-unit luxury apartment complex in Over-the-Rhine and next door to Coffee Emporium, the historic venue will be the new playhouse for The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.

Here, the theater group will return to its roots: it performed out of the Emery Theatre for 21 years in the middle of the 20th century before moving to the Taft Theatre downtown. For over 50 years, The Children’s Theatre has shared production space at the Taft for 40 days annually and has run its TCT Academy out of its headquarters on Red Bank Road for the last seven.
